Regular workshops are offered throughout the year and are open to all campus groups including students, faculty and staff.
Positive Space is an initiative intended to raise the visibility of welcoming and supportive places for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirit, queer, questioning and intersex (LGBQTTI) people and issues on campus. The Positive Space Campaign is coordinated by UBC’s Equity and Inclusion Office, with support from Counseling Services.
The workshops are 3 hours in length, informative, interactive and fun. Participants will:
- Gain an awareness of sexual and gender diversity;
- Become familiar with issues facing the LGBQTTI members on university campuses;
- Acquire tools to challenge homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism within and beyond the campus community; and
- Learn about university and other community resources that can be utilized for more information, support and assistance.
