FGSU is the only student organization at UBC representing undergraduates who identify as first-generation university students and low-income students (FGLI).
UBC Black Student Union
The Black Student Union (BSU) is a Black-centered organization dedicated to furthering the representation, education, and empowerment of UBC’s Black community. The BSU is committed to fostering Black culture and Black leaders at UBC through advocacy, outreach opportunities, social, political, and academic-focused events, and initiatives.
The Black Caucus
The Black Caucus is a forum for Black faculty, staff, students, and members of the community. Founded in the aftermath of an incident of anti-Black racism on the UBC campus, the Black Caucus provides a community of support to its members while advancing a discourse on Blackness in Canada, advocating for institutional change and holding UBC accountable to its commitment toward justice, equitable representation, and meaningful inclusion.
Colour Connected against Racism
Colour Connected against Racism is an AMS resource group that works to end racism, and all forms of oppression, discrimination and prejudice.
UBC Disabilities United Collective
The Disabilities United Collective is an advocacy and support resource group for disabled students at UBC. They aim to increase accessibility on campus and provide a safe and empowering space for neurodivergent and physically disabled students.
First Nations House of Learning
The First Nations House of Learning is based in the First Nations Longhouse. Its mandate is to make the University’s vast resources more accessible to Indigenous people and to improve its ability to meet their needs.

The Pride Collective
The Pride Collective is an AMS resource group that offers educational and social services dealing with sexual and gender diversity to the UBC community, including but not limited to students, faculty and staff.
The Women’s Centre
The UBC Women’s Centre strives to provide a space for community-building, discussion, sharing, and resistance. They offer a safe space on campus with couches, brochures (with information about resources), event posters, menstrual products, safer sex products, pregnancy tests, a library of feminist literature, microwave, food, a kettle, and more.
Get Help and Support
Campus Security
Campus Security is available to assist the campus community with first aid, safety & security concerns, and more — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Officers patrol the campus on foot, bicycle and visibly marked security vehicles and respond to calls for assistance with any situation that is concerning or suspicious.
RCMP University Detachment
This Royal Canadian Mounted Policy (RCMP) detachment serves University of British Columbia and the University Endowment Lands, including Pacific Spirits Park
AMS Safewalk
AMS Safewalk is a student-run safety service designed for anyone on the UBC campus who is traveling alone. Driving and walking teams are available to accompany individuals to their desired location after dusk. Safewalk prioritizes those who are vulnerable and feel unsafe traveling alone, allowing them to travel with a greater sense of security. The service is intended to give safe means of accompaniment when no other form is available.
AMS Peer Support
AMS Peer Support provides free, confidential, one-on-one peer support for UBC students facing a wide variety of challenges. Trained Peer Supporters are prepared to talk to students about academic stress, burnout, loneliness, depression, anxiety, substance use, mental health, relationship struggles, sexual violence, 2SLGBTQIA+ identity, grief and more.
UBC Counselling Services
Students seek support through UBC Counselling Services for a variety of reasons. UBC Counselling staff will get to know you and work with you to find out what support options might work best for you, in your unique situation.
The AMS Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC)
SASC has been committed to the education, support, and empowerment of people of all genders who are survivors of sexualized violence, as well as their friends and family. SASC serves UBC students, staff, faculty, and people with a connection to the UBC campus through various resources and services.
Sexual Violence and Prevention Office (SVPRO)
The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SVPRO) is a confidential place for those who have been impacted by any form of sexual or gender-based violence, harassment, or harm, regardless of where or when it took place. The office also provides resources on sexual assault response and education.
AMS Ombuds Office
The AMS Ombuds Office is an independent, impartial body for conflict resolution and confidential service. If you’re not sure how to approach a problem you’re having with the AMS, the AMS Ombudsperson can help you.
Office of the Ombudsperson for Students
The Office of the Ombudsperson for Students works with UBC community members to ensure students are treated fairly and can learn, work and live in a fair, equitable and respectful environment. Reporting directly to the President, the office is an independent, impartial and confidential resource for students at UBC, jointly funded by the AMS, GSS and UBC.
UBC Investigations Office (IO)
The Investigations Office (IO) responds to formal reports of sexual misconduct and discrimination involving UBC students, faculty, and staff through investigations and alternative resolution processes.
Law Students’ Legal Advice Program (LSLAP)
Non-profit run by law students at UBC Peter A. Allard School of Law to provide free legal advice & representation to clients who would otherwise be unable to afford legal assistance.
Student Health Services
Student Health Service offers a wide range of health assessments and treatments provided by doctors, nurse practitioners, and nurses.
UBC Wellness Centre
The Wellness Centre believes that a healthy mind, body, and spirit are foundations for students to achieve their personal and academic goals. Located in the UBC Life Building, the Wellness Centre is a friendly, peer-hosted space that offers many wellbeing programs for students.
UBC Student Assistance Program
Offered by Aspiria, the UBC Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a free, 24/7 wellness resource for students. Services include personal counselling, life coaching, group programs and more based on your needs.
Crisis Centre BC
The Crisis Centre of BC is dedicated to providing help and hope to individuals, organizations, and communities. Spanning the spectrum of crisis support, suicide prevention, and postvention, we engage staff and volunteers in a variety of services and programs that educate, train, and support the strength and capacity of individuals and communities.
Graduate Students Advocacy
The Graduate Student Society provides support, resources, political advocacy and social events to connect grad students across campus with each other, the university, and with the government.
AMS Advocacy Office
The AMS Advocacy Office provides information and support to students facing the bureaucratic challenges and disciplinary committees of UBC. The office provides students with information about UBC’s policies and procedures when they are in a formal conflict with the university. The office offers confidential and effective support to any undergraduate and graduate student at UBC in regards to disputes including non-academic misconduct, academic misconduct, academic standing and housing appeals.
