Bio

Alberta is a cisgender racialized Black woman of Kenyan descent, who lives and works on the unceded territories of the Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Kwantlen, Qayqayt, Tsawwassen andxʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam). Learning, working and living in Canada has fostered her need to understand and support Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, social justice, human rights and EDI protocols and practices. She has been part of various Anti-Racism initiatives, projects and committees over the course of her career. Her work will focus on anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices and strategies that will support the UBC community.
