Teaching Assistant Workshop: Open to all

Our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) in TAing workshops enable UBC’s teaching assistants to enhance their skills and better support diverse learners.

Through the workshop, you will learn how to incorporate EDI into the classroom as a way to enhance:

  • students’ sense of belonging;
  • their engagement with content and assessment;
  • the skills needed to work across differences.

Guided by Rachael E. Sullivan, PhD, an equity facilitator with the UBC Equity & Inclusion Office, participants will benefit from a variety of interactive discussions, activities, and accompanying resources.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) in TAing, Sept. 11, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

These sessions are presented by Rachael E. Sullivan, PhD, a passionate educator in the areas of gender and sexual diversity, active bystander interventions, and equity, diversity and inclusion in the research process. While earning her doctorate from the Sociology Department, she won the prestigious Killiam Graduate Teaching Award (2008). She went on to teach from 2012-2016 within the Sociology Department at UBC. She joined the Equity & Inclusion Office in 2014, and has since been involved in the Positive Space campaign, co-developing various workshops that promote equitable and inclusive approaches to teaching, learning, working, and living at UBC.
