Decolonizing Self-Care

What do you think of when you hear the term “self-care”? For many, face-masks and bubble baths are the first things that spring to mind.

This UBC Thrive Week – a week-long series of events focused on helping everyone at UBC explore their path to mental health – join the UBC Equity Ambassadors for a dialogue on Decolonizing Self-Care.

This workshop aims to create an inclusive space for those who are interested in wellness practices that go beyond the mainstream representation of individualized, material self-care. Rather, this an opportunity to consider the many meanings that self-care may hold across different cultural backgrounds. Together, through speakers, activities, and discussion, you will explore what it means to decolonize our understandings of self-care practices.
