Human rights advisor

Jay practiced constitutional and criminal law prior to joining the human rights team at UBC. Most recently, Jay was litigation counsel for a non-profit, challenging the federal government’s use of prolonged, indefinite solitary confinement in prisons, and protecting the right to medically assisted deaths for sick and suffering Canadians. Jay graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University; their undergraduate degree was in Philosophy and Women’s Studies and they hold a graduate degree in Women’s Studies and Feminist Research.
