There are several staffing updates to announce in the Equity & Inclusion Office.
Dr. Aftab Erfan will join the office on March 1, 2017 as the Director, Dialogue and Conflict Engagement. Aftab is a graduate of the School of Community and Regional Planning at UBC where she has taught for the last eight years. She has worked as a professional facilitator and conflict specialist, and as a consultant working on issues of conflict at the local, national and international level.
Monica Kay has accepted the appointment as the Senior Manager, Civility & Human Rights. She will begin this appointment on the 1st February 2017. Monica has been a key member of the EIO since 2013 and we are very pleased to be able to retain her skills and expertise.
Angelique Crowther, currently the Communications Manager, has accepted a position in Campus + Community Planning as Specialist, Communications, and Engagement. Angelique has been a part of the team since 2013 and was a key hire in the EIO’s restructuring.
With the appointment of Aftab and Monica, the work of the EIO on conflict engagement and to support equity, diversity and human rights is significantly strengthened and we are excited to move forward with innovative approaches for UBC.
Please join me in thanking Angelique for her dedication to the EIO, in welcoming Aftab to the team, and in congratulating Monica on her new role.
All the best,
Sara-Jane Finlay, Ph.D.
