PEBTalks 2015 is a three hour event comprised of a number of speakers, speaking on different topics, and being curated by a member of the Project EveryBODY Steering Committee, at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre in Vancouver.
Our goal is to bring together bright minds to give talks that are idea-focused, and on a wide range of subjects, to provide valuable information, foster learning, inspire– and provoke conversations that matter.
2:30pm – 3:00pm – Naomi Brand – All Bodies Dance Group
3:00pm – 4:00pm – Tom O’Dwyer + Dawn Smith – A presentation on the Registered Disability Savings Plan (“RDSP”), a long-term, tax-sheltered savings option for persons with disabilities that provides up to $90,000 in government assistance. Includes an overview of the Vancity sponsored Equal Futures fee free RDSP program that assists eligible individuals to learn about, qualify and apply for an RDSP easily and efficiently.
4:00pm – 4:10pm – Shayne Williams – Lookout Society
4:10pm – 4:30pm – Ivan / William Azaroff – Hear from a parent of a boy with autism who uses his love of music as a way to help him overcome his barriers in life. Join them as they share their journey, answer questions about their experiences, and then sit back and enjoy a great rock show by a very talented 11 year old singer-songwriter.
4:30pm – 5:30pm – INCOMMON TV Workshop – Our goal is for each participant to experience the fun of digital storytelling. Though working together participants will share, learn and discover our favourite new way to make a story. Participants will have the opportunity to make a short digital story and ability to share their story on incommon.tv.
We will start with a digital short story. Then discuss storytelling tips through group conversation to develop participant’s story idea around the theme Inclusion matters: access and empowerment of people of all abilities. Participants will then work with the In Common folks to create custom digital stories using the Adobe Voice App.
