The Equity and Inclusion Office is recruiting a new team of students to become Active Witness Workshop Facilitators and help build an inclusive living and learning environment at UBC.
The Active Witness program is an expanded student leadership program, designed to give students the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to act in response to discriminatory comments or stigmatizing situations. The program not only educates students about diversity, but gives them strategies to be more than a bystander.
Active Witness Workshop Facilitator Position Description:
The Equity and Inclusion Office is looking for a team of 15 Active Witness Workshop Facilitators to help build an inclusive living and learning environment at UBC. By facilitating workshops throughout the year, Facilitators will empower members of the UBC community to intervene when they witness comments or behavior that targets others on the basis of differences in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, language, ability, age, nationality or any other distinction. - Maximum of 10 Hours per month from November 2015-September 2016:
- NOTE: Heavy involvement is needed in March and August, but December, April and some other months will be less time intensive.
- Mandatory training on the weekend of November 7-8, 2015
