UBC is now welcoming applications for the position of Associate Vice President, Equity & Inclusion.
“We are searching for a candidate who will work collaboratively across our campuses as well as work with the community outside of UBC and work towards enhancing UBC’s ability to achieve its equity and inclusion objectives,” said Lisa Castle, Vice President, Human Resources. “The AVP will take the lead in building and sustaining a culture of respect, equity, diversity and inclusion at UBC.” Acting Associate Vice President Equity and Inclusion, Dr Gurdeep Parhar, continues to provide leadership for the Equity and Inclusion Office during this transition time.
A 12-member advisory committee has been struck and will provide advice and feedback on the search process. Co-chaired by Lisa Castle, Vice President, Human Resources and Dave Farrar, Provost and Vice President, Academic, the committee also includes five members of the UBC Executive, Linc Kesler, Senior Advisor to the President on Aboriginal Affairs and Shirley Nakata, Ombudsperson for Students. There are also student, faculty and staff representatives from Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.
“With the search process now underway we are working to have a new AVP in place by September 1, 2014,” said Lisa Castle, Vice President, Human Resources.
